Scale Causes Damage in Other Ways & Not Just Efficiency Loss

Boiler Tubes, Scale & Under Deposits

Boiler tubes containing scale deposits create long-term reliability problems for the boiler. Deposits insulate the water in the tube from fire, causing the metal temperature to increase dramatically between the deposits and the tube metal. Longterm overheating of the metal will result in from prolonged operation with heavy tube deposits. The tubes will buldge, then fail. Because scale tends to be widespread, this generally means that large sections of the boiler tubing will be damaged and require replacement.

The deposits also concentrate any boiler water chemistry and contamination that collects under them. The increased metal temperature caused by the deposit increases the rate of corrosion caused by any phosphate, caustic, or chloride underneath the deposit. With the exception of corrosion fatigue, all the water-side tube failures mechanisms occur under the deposits. Get rid of the deposits, and you also stop the water side tube failures.

We Have Specialized Equipment to Perform Internal Water Side Inspection of Pressure Vessels

Rough Surface

Most boiler failures can be prevented by internal inspections of the water ways in cast iron sections, firetube and water tube boilers.

We use specialized equipment to visually inspect high heat areas of the vessels.

Visual vessel and tube inspections help prevent catastrophic events, enhances safety, and ensures the boiler is running at peek  fuel-to-steam efficiency. Scale drastically reduces heat transfer, and causes the metal to overheat and soften metal.

This incident was caused by delaminating scale falling off the the fire tube then getting lodged onto the sidewalls of the LWCO Float assembly.

Call the Professionals with Real Descaling Experience

In today's fast-paced world, lack of trained maintenance personnel, proper routine maintenance and especially water quality usually gets forgotten. HydroClean Products, LLC Services is the answer to help you manage this common problem.

We get it,  out-of-site, out-of-mind, right? However, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and equipment is now being manufactured with lower water mass to transfer heat faster and more efficiently, making equipment less forgiving. Scale has become an industry wide problem, across the board. HydroClean Products, LLC. has a range of products from descaling, to chemically maintaining your heating and cooling hydronic water loops, which prevents magnetite and hard scale from accumulating accumulating in the first place.
